More and more organizations are becoming concerned on their
environmental footprints. Some of them are even deriving substantial
benefits from being environmentally responsible. So far we have
completed 16 ISO 14001 assignments. These clients have
completely eliminated certain waste streams and have converted
waste streams into valuable resources. We have helped them to
practice Pollution Prevention rather than Pollution Control and shown
them that Environmentally Responsible Manufacturing, in fact, is more
cost effective. Our extensive exposure to pollution prevention
methods, pollution control technologies, best practices in Fortune 500
companies, our extensive databases on Environmental Topics, in
depth knowledge on Legal Requirements and extensive experience in
Industrial activities have contributed to successful completion of such
assignments.
In one of our client companies, in the production process
workers use a highly viscous liquid and at the end of each shift
workers are required to clean the container. The practice over the
period was to use water to dissolve the remaining viscous liquid
and to direct the wash water to the drains. During the
Environmental Aspect identification process we noted this
practice and suggested changes to cleaning process. Now,
workers scrape the container with a special tool they themselves
developed before washing and collect scraped viscous liquid into
a collecting container. As a result water used for cleaning has
reduced and the wastage of the viscous liquid has minimized, as
the collected viscous liquid is reused. One simple change to the
process resulted in conservation of two resources and as well as
money.
